We are followers of Jesus Christ living in joyful, loving fellowship within his Catholic Church through the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter.
St. Alban's Catholic Church are men, women, and children who follow Jesus Christ, and are in fellowship with him through his Catholic Church here in Rochester, N.Y. We began in 2012 as the Fellowship of St. Alban, a parish community in the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter, a Catholic diocese with Anglican traditions created by the Pope. Fr. Nathan Davis is St. Alban's current parish priest, and he also serves the Catholic Diocese of Rochester at the St. Kateri Tekakwitha parish. After the St. Alban's community had grown, with the blessing of our Ordinariate's Bishop Steven Lopes, we changed our name in 2019 to St. Alban's Catholic Church.
As Ordinariate Catholics, we have beautiful ways of prayer, worship, and fellowship that help men, women, and children of all ages realize they are each uniquely, and unconditionally loved by Jesus, who is calling them into a deep, abiding relationship with him. Jesus, our Lord and God, is Love. Moreover, everyone at St. Alban's is supported by a loving community of disciples, who become not just friends, but also family, united in the love of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
Here is a little picture of St. Alban's Catholic Church. We encourage you to come and experience first-hand our Ordinariate Catholic parish life.
Our beautiful Catholic forms of worship and prayer come from the rich spiritual tradition of the English Church. They help us grow closer to Jesus, who invites us to discover the unconditional, and everlasting Love of God the Father.
Every Sunday at 11 AM, St. Alban's Catholic Church comes together to worship the one God, who is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. In the Ordinariate, the Catholic Mass is also called Divine Worship.
Because we sometimes may commit serious sins or wrongdoings that harm the love we have in our heart for God and our neighbor, the Sacrament of Reconciliation (or Confession) is offered by Father Davis on Sundays from 10:15 - 10:45 AM. In Confession, Jesus frees us from our sins, with the priest acting as his minister, so we may worship God with a healed and joyful heart at Holy Mass.
At Holy Mass, Father Nathan Davis dives into the readings from the Bible, which contains the story of God’s love for us. He shares the beautiful teachings of the Church, so that we may grow deeper in love with Jesus, and learn how to follow him better through the week by sharing his love for them.
As a church, we worship Jesus together in the Holy Mass. We are one parish family, and like a family gathered for a feast, we have members of all ages. We love one another, we care for each other, and really support our young families. We want our littlest members to grow up knowing they are beloved children in God’s own house.
We also recognize that little children sometimes get overwhelmed (and so do their parents!) at Mass. We try to support our families in the pews, but we also have a little room in the back of Church, where parents can have a bit of a rest while still remaining present at Mass, and children can play (which is their worship in another way). In this, both parents and children experience very much God’s grace. As the early Christian evening prayer, the Phos Hilarion, says: “Thou art worthy at all times to be praised by happy voices, O Son of God, O Giver of Life!”
When we worship, we listen to God’s holy word, then ask forgiveness for our sins and hurtful deeds. Confidently, trusting in God’s mercy and loving-kindness, we receive Jesus Christ himself -- body, blood, soul, and divinity -- in the Holy Eucharist.
But after we have received Jesus together in Holy Communion, and the Holy Mass is ended, we spend time together as a parish through the fellowship hour. Our unity in Jesus makes us grow in love and friendship together.
Fellowship after Sunday Mass provides a time for the adults to connect, and for the kids to spend time with their friends. We look forward to this! Our unity in Jesus, whom we receive in the Holy Eucharist, makes us friends, and family at St. Alban's.
We have coffee, donuts, juice, and snacks most times during our parish fellowship after the Mass, but have potlucks for special feasts and occasions. On the first Sunday of the month, Father Davis offers a special blessing for those who have birthdays, and a cake is served.
