The Catholic Courier reported on Bishop Steven Lopes Aug. 25-26 pastoral visit with St. Alban's Fellowship, and the celebration of our strong bond with the Diocese of Rochester at the Meet the Ordinariate Night and Pontifical Mass.
The Fellowship of St. Alban put together its first ever Meet the Ordinariate Night, with our bishop Steven Lopes, and celebrated a Pontifical Mass. Here is video from these wonderful and inspiring events!
Bishop Lopes is offering personal prayer and penance for the sins of bishops. He invites the members of St. Alban's parish and other Ordinariate Catholic communities to pray and do acts of penance for the renewal of Christ's Holy Church.
Father Evan delivered the following homily for Trinity XII Sunday on the Gospel reading in John 6, and the current sex abuse crisis. He compared the "scandal" of Jesus's love, who is God giving his flesh and blood for the life and salvation of the world, versus the scandal of those corrupt bishops and priests in the Church, who showed themselves to be "slaves of the Devil." Amid this, he said, we Catholics in Christ's Church must unite ourselves to the Lord Jesus, who shows God's true power and life-giving love.
The Ordinariate's Bishop says there is no room in the priesthood for men who commit acts of violence against children or adults, and no room in the Church for shepherds who cover up such abuse. He asks the faithful to renew their own call to holiness, parishes to pray the Prayer to St. Michael for priests, and will offer his own acts of penance on Ember Friday for the sins of bishops and the renewal of Christ's Church.
