The Fellowship of St. Alban is holding Choral Evensong on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. starting Sept. 20, St. Matthew's Eve.
Choral Evensong is the Ordinariate's sung evening prayer service in the Anglican chant tradition, with readings, psalms, canticles, and hymns. This English-Catholic liturgy is led either by a priest, deacon, or lay officiant.
St. Alban's choral Evensong involves the congregation singing the chants for psalms, responses, and canticles, such as the Magnificat (Canticle of Mary) and the Nunc Dimittis (Canticle of Simeon).
Anglican chant is a beautiful and simple way to pray the psalms, and the basics can be learned quickly. We invite you to watch this wonderful tutorial, Introduction to Anglican Chant, and look forward to having you pray with us at St. Alban's Evensong, 7 p.m. every 3rd Thursday of the month.
