Please join us during coffee hour on March 31 after St. Alban's 11:30 Mass to celebrate "Mothering Sunday," one of the names from St. Alban's Ordinariate patrimony for Laetare (Rejoice!) Sunday.
Mothering Sunday is a holiday generally celebrated in the United Kingdom, Canada and Ireland in Catholic and Anglican parishes and draws its origins from the Medieval English Church, where the ancient Sarum Mass would have scriptural references to Jerusalem (the Church) as our mother on the 3rd Sunday of Lent, also known as "Laetare Sunday." So
Mothering Sunday became a day for visiting one's "mother church" and an occasion for honoring our mothers.
At St. Alban's, we celebrate Mothering Sunday by giving roses to our parishioners on this day, so they can give them to, or remember, their mothers and grandmothers, and Fr. Evan offers a special blessing.
Please join us as we celebrate our mothers, especially St. Alban's expectant mothers, Regina Appleby and Mary Bayer. Please consider bringing them gifts of diapers or baby wipes (always useful items) of any brand and any size. We will give them these items as a parish gift during coffee hour after Mass.
