Join St. Alban's Historic Holy Week & Easter Vigil

Palm Sunday begins Holy Week 2021 in the Catholic Church, and for us at St. Alban's, this is a very special Holy Week indeed. For the first time ever in our parish history, we'll be celebrating together the full Sacred Triduum in the Ordinariate form, according to the Divine Worship missal. And we'll be bringing four parish members into full communion with the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil. 

Here's our St. Alban's Holy Week & Easter schedule (March 28 - April 4):

• Palm Sunday: 11 AM Divine Worship Mass, and 10:15 - 10:45AM Confession, and later 7PM Evensong.  
• Holy Tuesday: 7PM Tenebrae Service. This is an ancient prayer service from the combined offices of Matins and Lauds. Named after the Latin word for "darkness," the church lights are progressively dimmed and candles extinguished as we pray and enter into the Passion of Our Lord. 
• Spy Wednesday: 7PM Mass, with 6:15 - 6:45PM Confession, followed by Fr. Davis leading the Cor ad Cor discussion of St. John Henry Newman's sermons, as usual. Spy Wednesday refers to the day Judas decided to betray Jesus for 30 pieces of silver.
• Maundy Thursday: 7PM Mass of the Lord's Supper, followed by the “watch” at the altar of repose, an extended time of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament into the night. Confession is 6:15 - 6:45 PM. You can sign up here if you're planning on watching with Jesus in the Eucharist. Sign up is not required, so please come if you feel the prompting of the Holy Spirit.
• Good Friday: 12 PM Liturgy of the Passion and Death of Our Lord, followed by Confession.
• Holy Saturday: 7 PM Easter Vigil. This year, St. Alban's celebrates the Easter Vigil Mass with the New Fire, Blessing of the Font, Confirmations and First Holy Communion for four of our new parishioners. We will also have a special livestream of the Easter Vigil via our website and YouTube channel for those who cannot attend.
• Easter Sunday: 11 AM Mass with the Renewal of Baptismal Promises. We conclude the day with 7PM Solemn Evensong and Benediction. We look forward to greeting all of you with the ancient Christian Easter greeting "Alleluia, Christ is risen!" and response, "He is risen indeed, alleluia!"
