St. Alban's Holy Week will begin with Palm Sunday Mass, March 25 at 11:30 am at St. Cecilia's church. St. Alban's will be holding some events through the week, and then be joining with the diocese of Rochester and the St. Kateri Tekakwitha parish for others.
Mon., Mar. 26 -- St. Alban's will have Compline, Confessions, and Holy Hour at 7:00 pm. at St. Cecilia's church.
Tues., Mar. 27 -- The Diocese of Rochester will have the Chrism Mass at the Sacred Heart Cathedral at 7:00 p.m.
Wed., Mar. 28 -- St. Alban will have a Tenebrae (Latin for "Darkness") prayer service at St. Cecilia’s at 7:00 pm. This day is known in the English-Catholic tradition and elsewhere in the Catholic Church as "Spy Wednesday," the day Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver.
As the Tenebrae liturgy, progresses the candles on the altar are gradually extinguished. until the sanctuary is plunged in darkness. A loud clash of noise is made to symbolize the agony of Creation at the moment of the Savior's death, and made manifest when the earthquake shook the Temple and split the veil of the sanctuary in two.
Mar. 29 - 31, Thurs. thru Sat. -- Holy (or Maundy) Thursday begins the three-day journey of the Sacred Triduum. St. Alban's will join with the St. Kateri Tekakwitha parish at St. Margaret Mary Church in Irondequoit for all three liturgies: Maundy Thursday will be at 7:30 pm, Good Friday at 3:00 p.m., and the Great Easter Vigil at 7:30 p.m.
April 1, Easter Sunday -- Come join the Fellowship of St. Alban for 11:30 Divine Worship on Easter Sunday at St. Cecilia's church, as we celebrate the joy of the Lord's Resurrection from the dead on this day.
